Have a newsletter for communicating with your audience

One of the best things you could for keeping a close communication with your targeted audience is to keep a newsletter with topics specialised on your site theme. For example, if you have a Christian site, you could start a newsletter on religious themes. You could send monthly an informal mail to all your interested audience with topics that should help your readers, so they feel they really need your mail and keep receiving emails from you.

Don't spam your readers

You should send these newsletters to your interested audience, not to those people that didn't want. See my article Add an email gathering mechanism on your site to find more about how to get interested users for your targeted mails.

If you send mails to people that didn't want to receive these mails, it is called spamming and this is one of the worst things you could do.

You will turn this way your own actions agains you.
Instead of making your readers feel good about receiving your mails, instead of creating a positive feeling about your site, you will make them want to stop communicating with you, you will generate a negative feedback, and this is the worst think you can do. They will never buy anything from you again.

Choose your subjects wiselly when you compose your newsletter

Choose subjects on your topic. If you have a Christian site, you should think of topics such as sermons, prayers, religious stories, etc. Off topic subjects will not help at all.

Don't send your newsletter just to keep your periodicity if you don't have anything to say

Sending mails to your readers just to keep your periodicity without having something to say it is a bad thing. Don't do it, people will get the feeling you don't have anything to say. Instead, send your mails when you have something to communicate them, something good!

Have a tidy newsletter format

Make your newsletter look the same way your site does, with the same color scheme and don't make typing mistakes, it hurts!!!Think of how you would feel if you read a magazine and you find in their headlines typing mistakes!

These are a few small ideeas on how to keep communicating with your readers, I am sure you will find many more from your personal experience!
