Christian Flash templates, are they good or not for building your church site?

One of the things people ask me to build all the time is Christian Flash based sites. Well, it is normal, people see a lot of nice movements, music, artistic things. If people want this, I can not refuse them. However, I suggest them to consider a HTML based Christian site because of many reasons.

| The fact is that I love Flash, I guess everybody loves Flash, don't you love it too? It is one of the best things that happen to web since a while. But it is also one of the fact that I would not recommend all the time to my clients. Flash gets a bit to load and for people that come back a lot to the same sites, it is not one of the best things to do if they have to wait for a site to load.
I know, you will tell me that you must have a Skip button. Even so, it is not fast at all.
Then it comes the search engine indexing which is a hell for SEO professionals. Search engines don't respond well to Flash. |
You also have to consider that not everybody have Flash plugin installed on his computer. Well, this is a weak reason, it is not something that would stop you for a long time, in the end the plugin gets installed fast and by itself from the internet.
You could say that a Christian site would be enhanced if it gets animated with Flash. Indeed, it would be a nice thing to see a nice animation, but think that a lot of people enter your site to look for information, Christian events, church related information, and they may want a fast load time for the information they are looking for.
You could say that in Flash you could use a nice melody for the moment the site gets loaded. Indeed, but that gets me to the point of saying that you should remember that not everybody likes sounds when browsing the internet. You know what? Maybe they surf from the office, they will surelly woudn't like their boss to come right to their computer because of the music that just started...
What I could recomend you if you still want a Christian Flash site is to provide a light version site for your visitors. This way you will only have advantages:
Remember: short time for loading, returning visitors will not wait just to get the information, they may know the site and now they will probablly go right to where they need to go. Think that you will gain search engine visibility also. Provide such a version for your site and you will only have advantages.
