What is better? To design you church website using a website template or to start it from scratch with a website designer? Well, the answer is simple: depending on how much are you willing to pay for it. Template based sites are cheap but they need to be customized in order to look the way you want. Custom church website design is expensive, since the designer is an artist that changes his prices based on unique artistic work.

Remember that the idea of a church template is to provide a base for a website design, base that needs to be customized. Don't just use the template on your site, change colors, change pictures, look and feel, etc.
If you have knowledge about HTML and CSS it will be ok, if not, ask somebody who knows about this. Even a professional designer, he will not charge you that much since you already give him the template.
It is just a matter of expenses, really. Pay for unique work or use a template and save money? I really think that using a template could save you a lot of troubles since the templates are designed by professional designers, and you can not beat one when it comes to his line of work, right?
